18 months {Beckett}.

(Good Lord.  Did you know that they're going to be 19 months old in a few days?  So these needed to happen now.  Because technically, they're still 18 months old til the 6th... )

It's been awhile since I've busted out an update on the Brothers.  But, well, I've been quite busy chasing after them.  They're growing like weeds and learning new things everyday and I can hardly believe that we're (more than) half way to their 2nd birthday.

My babies are going to turn 2.  And then they're going to go to school.  And then they'll be driving and go off to college and get jobs and get married and leave me all alone.  And I'll be stuck with their father for all of eternity to be forced to play games and go for runs at every waking moment of the day.

Somebody hold me.

This post is turning out to be really long.  So in an attempt not to bore anyone (or myself), I'm going to do each kiddo's update in a separate post.  First up, Mr Beckett...

Beckett

Weight: 26 pounds 9 ounces- 75th percentile
Length: 34 1/4 inches - 90th-95th percentile

The older he gets, the more Mr Beckett proves that he is indeed his mama's child.  He takes a long time to warm up to people, but once he's comfortable he loves to have fun.  He goes with the flow for the most part, but when he has an opinion about something, he's going to let you know ... and he's going to get what he wants.  Beckett is pretty easy going and it takes a lot to get him upset, but when he blows ... look out.  It's gonna get ugly.  There will be screams of frustration.  Loud screams.  And he'll bite.  Yes, he's a biter. This, he did not inherit from me.  That is 100% from his TT (Aunt Teresa).  We're also seeing that Beckett has quite a bit of his Daddy's sense of humor.  It seems that lately his Hambone personality shines through more than ever.

Beckett's vocabulary is pretty great.  He understands a lot, he says a lot, and he is very articulate for an 18 month old.  He says easily 50 words at this point, probably more, and learns new ones every day.  Recently he learned how to say his name and says it about 57293471 times per day.  It's amazingly adorable and I tell him about an equal amount of times per day that I could just devour every delicious inch of him because he's just that scrumptiously cute.  I mean seriously, look at those eyes ... that smile...

With this rapid language development comes even more stubborness (OK, that's from both of his parents).  He has decided that he no longer likes to snuggle before nap and bedtime and instead insists on going "nigh-nigh!"  After I put him in his crib, he holds up his quilt and says "beekee!" (blankie).  Once I take the quilt from him, he throws himself onto his belly, pulls his knees under himself, sticks his bum in the air, and yells "baaaaaaaack!" (rub my back!!!!).  If anything in this sequence of events strays from his desires (which, lets be honest, happens frequently because he has a twin brother who also has wishes needs) he voices his, um, displeasure.  Loudly.

Beckett has also taken an interest in the potty and even gone successfully on the little potty chair and using the potty seat on the toilet.  I'm fairly confident that this was just good timing, as he sits on the potty every chance he gets and he drinks like a fish all day long, so it's really just science.  Mommy is not ready to potty train someone again, so until he walks up to me and says "Hey Mom, I have to pee", or something to that effect, we aren't even going there for another year.

Physically, Beckett is catching back up to his little brother.  He had a huge growth spurt over the past few months and bounced back up from his little dip into the 25th-50th percentile for weight at his 15 month appointment.  He has all 8 front teeth, all 4 molars, and is currently starting to cut his K9s.  Beckett has been my earliest, fastest, and easiest teether ... and for that, I am grateful!

I can't believe how old Mr Beckett seems these days.  He runs fluidly, loves to chase his brothers, throw balls, and dig in the dirt.  He's a boy's boy through and through, but he sure does love his Mommy.  And she sure does love him back!
