Well hey, look at me! Two posts in one day! Spectacular.
I have good news, and I have bad news.
You may remember that I opted not to weigh in for a few weeks because I didn't have my scale. And you also may remember that while I rocked it at running the first week and a half of vacation, I also sucked balls at eating. Actually, I ate very well, just not healthy AT ALL. And then the second week I had practically no physical activity, but we were so busy that I didn't eat much at all. I also opted out of weighing in last Tuesday because of the sheer terror of what the amount of fast food that was consumed on our road trip home would have done to the number on the scale. So I decided to wait til this week.
Really, it's all a bunch of justification that it made sense to wait instead of being accountable during vacation. I am a champion justifier. It's pure talent.
I truly had no idea what the scale would show yesterday. But I bit the bullet and jumped on in the morning - after I peed but before I put on clothes, of course.
The good news - I didn't gain any weight. The bad news - I didn't lose any weight. Yep. I weight exactly the same as I did before we left for Michigan.
I've decided that I'm OK with it. I managed not to gain while on vacation, and in Michigan, which is historically very hard for me to accomplish. So I can be proud of that and move on and focus on the future.
My leg is feeling really good, so I'm running on it again. If it starts to hurt again, I'll go see the doctor. But I'm hoping that I rested it enough to heal. My run two nights ago felt AWESOME. Of course, I didn't get to run last night because we were at the hospital last night, but I'm looking forward to tonight's run. These runs are starting to feel really good. That's the feeling I've been waiting for!
Great job Kelli! I'm glad your leg is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteI know you don't need my advice, but have you or your coach considered incorporating weight lifting/strength training into your program? I know you are gearing up for a running race, but strength training could give you some alternative exercises to do that don't stress your leg.
Thanks Monica! And I'll take whatever advice I can get, especially from someone as seasoned as you! :) Yes, I've started a bit of strength training at Brian's urging. It's something we're trying to do together, since he runs twice as fast as I do so we can't do that with each other. I tend to resist it because it's not my favorite thing in the world, but I know it's good for me, so I'm giving in!
